Wishing I Had a Truck

Good News! Andy and I finally puchased the new bedroom furniture set we’ve had our eyes on. Take a look here at our Crate and Barrel registry. We didn’t actually expect anybody to spend that much money on us. However, when we registered with Crate and Barrel, they said that we would receive a 10% off coupon after our wedding to help us purchase items left on our registry list. When I heard that, my ears perked up and I added anything and everything that my heart desired.

The six drawer dresser that we wanted is currently on backorder. However, the store we went to happened to have one in stock. The catch is that we had to take it home immediately. So, we pulled Andy’s little Corolla up to the Crate and Barrel back door. The back room moving guys took one look at the car and laughed out loud. There was NO WAY that dresser was going to fit in the back of a Corolla! We puzzled over it for a long time. We tried to think of any friends we may have in the area that might have a pick up truck, or have access to a pick up truck. Nada, nothing, zip, and zilch. In the end, we rented a Home Depot truck for a couple of hours and finally brought home our massive dresser. This is probably the only reason I’ve ever wanted or wished I had a pick up truck.
You’ll also be happy to hear that we’ve received our wedding photos. There is a huge amount of photos (over 250). I’ll try to put some of those photos up in my gallery, but you may have to be patient. Between gardening (our house is the only one on the street that isn’t completely decked out for Halloween…and I’m trying to change that), cleaning (our carpet sheds like you wouldn’t believe!), writing our thank you cards from the wedding (if you’re waiting for one…I apologize, but I’m writing as fast as I can), and trying to lose all that extra cruise weight (if you’ve read my previous posts, you understand), I’m a little pressed for time. Here’s to hoping the next week zooms by and that the weekend will be here again.

On the Road Toward Home

One week ago, I was in a church wondering if a bride has ever farted at the altar (thanks to my lovely bridesmaids for that gem of a thought :) ). Today I’m heading towards my much loved home in Dallas-Fort Worth after a wonderful honeymoon. Andy and I got up at the crack of dawn (okay, maybe not crack of dawn, but definately the earliest we’ve been up all week) and headed towards our last excursion. Our flight didn’t leave Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Airport till 3:30 p.m. and the cruise check out time was 8:30 a.m. Thankfully, Royal Caribbean has Fort Lauderdale excursions for us later flight people… Read the rest of this entry »

Coco Loco!

I think out of all the places we’ve been to, the Royal Caribbean private island, CocoCay, in the Bahamas is my favorite so far. We woke up decently early, slathered ourselves in suntan lotion, grabbed our pool towels and headed for the ferries. CocoCay was absolutely gorgeous! White sandy beaches, beautiful blue waters, and most importantly clean bathrooms. You can really judge a place by the cleanliness of their bathrooms.

Andy and I picked up our snorkel gear and underwater camera and flip flapped right into the ocean… Read the rest of this entry »

Our Buddy Irwin

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge my favorite attendant on our ship, our buddy Irwin from Peru. This always smiling, always silently cheerful man worked behind the counter at the Solarium Cafe. Irwin worked the ridiculously late hours of 10:30 p.m. – 3:00 a.m., feeding the hoards of hungry drunken cruisers. Really, it’s the best time to people watch… Read the rest of this entry »

A Mexican Minute

*Ding Dong* “Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Today we are in the port city of Cozumel, Mexico. If you are taking a tour of the mainland, please meet in the Orpheum Theatre at this time. The temperature in Cozumel will reach a high of 96 degrees Fehrenheit… Read the rest of this entry »

Parasailing? Check!

One of the things I’ve always wanted to accomplish before I die is to parasail. Why? Probably because sky-diving and bungee jumping are a little too extreme for me. I have absolutely no desire to jump out/off of anything wondering if the rope/parachute will work. Worse comes to worse in parasailing, your line snaps, the already open parachute will allow you to gently fall in to the ocean with land in plain sight. Though this is probably not a huge risk factor, but when I saw it on our list of excursions, I immediately demanded to join. Andy, however, was slightly more reluctant to get excited, seeing as how he has a small fear of heights…

Ah…Honeymoon, Reason Enough to Get Married

For those of you that check my blog regularly (thanks by the way), you may have noticed that I haven’t written anything in an exceptionally long time. I apologize for that, but I hope you’ll forgive me due to the fact that I’ve been away getting married and on my honeymoon for the last couple of weeks. I suppose I could have posted a few thoughts while on my cruise. However, Royal Caribbean was charging 50 cents/minute for internet use, so you’re plum out of luck! To try and make it up to you, I have been diligently writing down all my adventures with my handy Royal Caribbean pen and Royal Caribbean stationary. I will then type up all my thoughts once I get home to my lappy. So, enjoy!

Let’s start with the wedding, which was very nice, and went smoother than expected… Read the rest of this entry »
