Hurricane Harbor – Scotty Mo

So, the weeks are really starting to smush together and I always just barely manage to keep up. Last Wednesday (07/19/06), Dr. Schetz took the lab to Hurricane Harbor for a summer holiday. For those of you too lazy to click on the link, Hurricane Harbor is just a big water park across from Six Flags. It was fun, though perhaps a little too hot out for my taste. Plus, I don’t particularly enjoy wandering around in a swimsuit among my co-workers for a full day. (Yes ma, I did put on a lot of sunscreen) I did manage to fall off, wipe out, or flip under my raft on every single ride we went on that day. That my friends, takes talent. Ahh…inhaling severely chlorinated water, how thrilling! Everyone except for Dr. Schetz and his wife left at 4 because we were so thoroughly exhausted. I went home, showered, and promptly fell asleep at 9:30.

On Saturday, our friend Scott flew down to DFW to visit us. We had a terrific afternoon wandering around the almost completed house, eating at Taco Diner (good food, slightly overpriced, and because it’s “trendy” the wait was horrendous), and bumming around the Southlake Town Center Apple store (where Andy, Ben, and Jordan drooled over several way expensive items and took distorted photos of each other to stick on the store desktops).

Sunday was spent at the gym, where I did some cardio and ab work. Andy and Scott practiced their basketball techniques and talents. We went mattress shopping, had some tasty lunch at Chapps (a local Keller hangout that we’ll get to enjoy more frequently when we move THIS FRIDAY!!!), played video games, went to the park since the weather actually cooperated, and did I mention…play video games? Right now, I’m just waiting to close on the house so we can start moving stuff like crazy. I’m ready to move out of our old, falling apart, stinky, ant infested (not our fault, they like living in the bushes outside our door), cramped and crowded apartment. So…that really leaves the question, who’s free Friday and Saturday to help move some boxes?

And the Gift of Sight is Granted…

I know I’ve been promising a photo gallery since I first put up this blog, that momentous occasion has finally arrived! **joyous trumpets sound** Andy sat down (after much nagging and threatening from me) and opened a whole folder for just for little ol’ me! You can reach our photos here . Right now I only have the bridal shower pictures in my gallery. However, I intend on migrating all my photos over to the brand new gallery. Have patience my friends, soon all will be revealed.

Andy and I had a terrific weekend. We drove down to Georgetown to visit Andy’s parents on Friday night. We got to sleep in, relax, eat the most delicious brisket you can possibly imagine. Seriously, this brisket is the stuff dreams are made of…and what tasty dreams they are. Andy’s dad spends 12 hours slaving over this dish! Our friend Kat came over to eat with us and also to help us assemble all our wedding invitations. We had a lot of fun, a few mishaps, and chatted the night away. In the end, I think the invitations turned out really well, but you’ll just have to wait to receive one, only if you’re special enough of course. Mwahahaha!

After a long day of work, Andy and I met up with Trainer Derek for another grueling workout. He decided it was a perfect day for us to work our legs. By the end of the workout, my legs were jelly! I can barely drag my limp and exhausted body up or down the stairs! I don’t even want to imagine what kind of pain I’ll be in tomorrow. All I have to say is, if the boss wants me to move faster at work, he’ll just have to carry me! Okay, I think it’s time for the sleeping to occur, I can already hear Andy snoring away in the distance!

Lazy Angela = No New Posts

So, life has been unbelievable crazy for the last couple of weeks. Mom hates it when I write too much, so I’ll try to summarize concisely.

Mom and CathyBridal ShowerDebra and Grandma Rose

The weekend of July 4th, Andy and I drove up to Kansas for my bridal shower. Ashley and her mom, Bethann, did a fantastic job and it was absolutely gorgeous! I’m so thankful that I have so many friends and family that love me enough to come. I’m still working on getting an album put together and on this website. I’ve posted a couple of the better photos below until the album is complete. Due to this wonderful event, Andy and I walked away with all sorts of loot! (Is it proper to call shower gifts, “loot”?) Which of course, took forever to pack into the car and forever and a day to finish all the VERY necessary thank you cards.  We finished up all sorts of wedding plans (cake, photography, music, ceremony meeting). Fireworks were fired up in an empty cul de sac with Ashley and the Carter family. The sparklers were definately my favorite, I’m a girl, I can say that. ^-^

Last weekend we celebrated Andy’s birthday (07/06/06). I took him to see Lewis Black (from the Daily Show) and bought him the Lewis Black autobiography. Mr. Black is very funny, though not exactly my kind of humour. I agree with his thoughts, though they tend to worry me more than make my laugh. Why worry? Because they’re so true!

The guys (guys = Ben, Jordan, Griffin, Kareem, Andy) and I went to see the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 on Friday night at the Movie Tavern. Small rant on the Movie Tavern…$4 tickets, lots of decently priced tasty food, and comfy seats, what a terrific idea!! The guys, of course got drunk off the cheap beer and spent the rest of the evening making really bad pirate jokes and randomly yarrring. (which by the by, I always thought pirates arred, not yarred.

Example 1: Kareem commenting on the waitress in pirate costume

“That’s one shaaaaart skaaaaart”

Translation “That’s one short skirt”

Example 2: Andy’s most thoughtful comment

“Did you know that Shakespeare is also known as the baaaard?”

Example 3: Another genius moment from Andy

“Get Ben Staaaarrr in the carrrrr”

Saturday was spent at the Taste of Dallas (lots of free stuff and tasty local food) and at the Aveda Salon where I bought a massage for Andy’s last birthday surprise. The rest of the weekend was spent packing up all our stuff because, it’s less than three weeks before we’ll move into the new house! The house looks gorgeous, and almost complete. We’re just waiting for carpet, appliances, and the finishing touches. So, y’all had better start checking your schedules for a good date to come down and visit!
