Costco, My Hero!
So, at the beginning of the weekend, I was suddenly bogged down by the massive amounts of stuff we still had to do/budget for the wedding, and the even more massive amounts of stuff we still have to do/pay for when the house is completed in July. That’s when I discovered the beautiful world of Costco. In about 10 minutes, I found the exact flower arrangements I wanted (2 bridal bouquets, 1 maid of honor bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, 12 corsages, 12 boutennieres, 6 centerpieces, and rose petals included in the wedding package) and the perfect invitations! The prices are pretty decent, they’re not cheap by any means, but they’re actually more affordable than what we’ve been looking at. That’s a huge weight off my chest.
As for the house, we stopped by good ol’ Keller on Saturday to take a few pictures of the developments that have been made to the house. Instead of just dirt, we now have a few sticks, a little concrete AND dirt!! I was actually a little dismayed with how small the foundation made our house look. However, I have been reassured by Andy and Ashley that once the drywall goes up, the house will look normal. Andy and I took some pictures of a house that was built down the street that happens to be the model that we bought. Please feel free to view them here. Andy is going to try and help me post a couple of my favorite shots later on, but we’re a smidgen busy for the task right now. Life seems to be rolling along just fine for now. ^-^
Fuzziest of Fuzzy Wuzzies
And now…I would like to present to the world…my hamster Schnitzel. (His full name is Baron Schnitzel Von Hamsterviel) Mom has complained that my website has too many words and not enough pictures. With that said, I went digging around my files looking for pictures that I’m not ashamed to put on the web. That’s when I discovered that most of the photos I have of me are horrible, that plus Andy is sneezing/squinting/chewing/talking. So, this is what I choose to put up.

Note: hamsters do NOT enjoy getting their pictures taken. That certainly doesn’t stop me from snapping away, but just in case you wanted to know.
Also, I just remembered that I took a few shots of the church where the wedding is to take place. If you’re of the curious sort, or have just always wondered what Olathe Christian Church looked like on the inside…here you go!

It’s not overly fantastic, but it’s cute and I like it. Not to mention, my mom and I have a lot of memories here. We’ve got photos of six-year old Angela dressed up in an angel costume singing in her first church choir on these steps…ahh the good old days…And no, I don’t happen to have that old picture in my laptop. Not that I would necessarily share it with you anyhow…one must earn the little Christmas angel picture!
Ree-darndiculous!
So, Andy and I were happily shopping at one of my favorite stores (Target) yesterday (04/13/06) and we came across an absolutely silly contraption. There we were wandering around the goofy pet clothing, making fun of the little puppy tuxedos and tiny ballerina skirts, when we saw a puppy raincoat (which comes with a rainhat, ear-slots included of course). As if that wasn’t bad enough, we looked down and we saw this… Peals of laughter could be heard coming from the pet supply aisle throughout the store. Seriously! Why in the world would you and your dog need matching umbrellas? If you saw this lady with her pooch under these wacky devices, would you really think to yourself, “gee that’s cool! I wish my dog and I could bond like that on a stormy day! But alas, I have no pet umbrella…poor me and poor my dog!”
Most likely my thought pattern would run closer to the following, “Um…why does the dog have an umbrella? Does the dog mind getting wet? Or is the owner trying to prevent that yucky wet dog smell? In which case…why does the owner have a dog, seeing as how dogs do tend to get wet once in awhile. Why does the dog umbrella match the human umbrella? Is this just a step away from matching jogging suits for dog and human? That’s just bizarre…and I think I’d like a cookie” Okay, admittedly my thought pattern is a little long and a little off subject at the end, but I can’t change what I’m thinking.
So, in conclusion…don’t buy your dog and yourself matching umbrellas. It’s not cool.
Spring has Sprung
Once I got through last Friday (04/07/06) and the madness that is RAD (Research Appreciation Day) here at the university, my weekend was terrific. However, up to that point…last week was very frustrating and long. My co-workers and I were frantically trying to put together poster presentations on our various projects. Doesn’t it seem odd that Research Appreciation means…us researchers working harder and longer? Anyhow, the event is over and gone till next year.
The weather was beautiful last weekend. Andy and I got up early on Saturday and ventured down to Southlake Town Square to see the grand opening of the new wing of stores. I was thrilled to see that a Lucy store was one of the new stores! Cathy and I saw this nifty store last summer when we were on vacation in Portland, Oregon. We figured it was just a cool northwest chain, but lo and behold! We have one of our very own. Of course, without the help of my daddy, I couldn’t afford anything in the store. But I’m a very patient shopper and I’ll wait till those spiffy duds go on sale.
Andy and I were looking at our schedules and it’s looking like May is going to be a very busy month. I’m flying to Tucson, Arizona for my friend Ruth’s wedding in May. I haven’t seen her in 2-3 years, and I’m terribly excited to be there for her special day. In addition to that, we’re driving back to Austin to go see Big Bad Voodoo Daddies with Kat and Josh. I’m excited and I hope there will be dancing! I may be extremely ungraceful, but gosh I do love dancing. ^-^ Plus, as an extra bonus! My friend Ashley is thinking about flying down to visit us, also in May. Now…if only I can get through April just a little faster…
Haircuts, DS, and Goodwill
I had a lovely (though mostly unproductive) weekend. It started with me getting a decent haircut at Regis Salons in the Golden Triangle Mall. Yes, the Denton mall is called the Golden Triangle Mall, and yes it is definately as classy as it sounds (sarcasm intended). The good thing about Regis Salons is that although the cost is a little steep, they do a terrific job no matter which location I go to. It’s one of those chain places that can be found in any big mall. The lady that cut my hair was a perfectionist and every detail was taken care of. I appreciate the thorough job she did, however, I can only hold my head still and stare at a photo of LL Cool J taped to the mirror for so long! My question is, why didn’t anybody notice my haircut? Okay, Andy noticed and gave me the praise that a $40 haircut deserves. He even tried to get the guys at the apartment to notice by saying rather loudly “Why Angela, your haircut sure is lovely!”. To which their response was to look up briefly from their XBOX 360 game and say “Oh, you got a haircut?” Perhaps it’s just a boy thing? When it comes to my gal friends, they notice immediately and give the appropriate compliments. Even the secretary at work that I only see once a month commented instantly! Okay, maybe I’m a little vain, but it’s a huge difference to me! My whole head is 5 inches of hair lighter! So with that said, dear reader, I have included two photos in this post. The one on the left is my old haircut (the picture is taken at our engagement celebration last fall in KC…yes, it’s been that long since my last haircut. What can I say! I’m a semi-struggling twenty something year old!!) The picture on the right is of my new haircut. (I apologize for the dark colored shirt, making the whole new haircut slightly difficult to see. I promise to put something better up once I get around to taking a new picture) Let me know what you think!

With that rant beat like a dead horse, I move on to the rest of the weekend. Most of Saturday was spent playing Nintendogs on the brand new Nintendo DS that Andy bought for me on Friday. I have chosen a cute little female Shiba Inu as my puppy. I’ve named her Pumpkin, which on second thought, was a stupid idea. The game is largely based on voice recognition, I call Pumpkin and the computer puppy will come with ears aflyin’. The word “pumpkin” is very difficult to say quickly while enunciating properly. Which has resulted in my poor dog thinking her name is Puhkin, Puhmin, or Umpkin. I’m not really sure which word is recognized, so the dog only comes half the time I call it. I do believe Andy and Jordan are rather tired of my game already, seeing as how they’ll hear me shout “Pumpkin” repeatedly in various pitches and volumes for hours on end. Sigh…Andy thinks that I should just start the game over, but I’m afraid I’ve already become attached to dear little Puhkin.
Half of Sunday was spent trying to figure out why the air conditioning in my car doesn’t work and also why the car spits leaves at me. Yes…the car’s vents really does spit leaves at me, which leads to a great amount of confusion when I’m driving down a highway and random bits hit my face! So far, there have been no conclusions. Andy believes I just need to get my air conditioning recharged, which I am doing tomorrow morning before work. The other half of Sunday was spent going through my massive amounts of clothing and trying to decide what to give to Goodwill. I’m pretty proud of myself, I’ve got one big bag and one big box stuffed to the brim. We’re talking clothing that I wore back in high school and beginning of college. Stuff that I believe I’ve outgrown (mentally, not physically). Granted, I know that I’m still young, but really? I think I’d be silly to try and wear a one shoulder tank top or a fluttery halter top. Not to mention, some of the junk I had was just odd…a purple and gray sparkly argyle sweater? What was I thinking? Ahh well…getting rid of so much stuff sure has left me a rather empty wardrobe. Perhaps next weekend will be spent shopping for new junk to stuff into my closet?
