There’s No Place Like Home
Andy got confirmation last week regarding his new job at Sabre Holdings. He’s both excited and nervous about the change. Slightly higher pay, but much more responsibility. I think he’s going to knock their socks off, but that’s just my opinion. Seeing as how the new job means we’ll be in DFW for a few more years at the least, we’ve been tossing around the idea of possibly buying a house!
So, just to get an idea of what the housing market is like in this area, we went house shopping on Saturday. We found a cute little neighborhood in Keller, Texas (by Fort Worth) that we love. We chatted with the realtor, took a look around, and found a great house, for a great price, in a great location! The house model is named Timberline and is made by Pulte Homes (reputable company). It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a nice kitchen, a kitchen nook, a formal dining area, and a covered patio! How great does that sound?
For a house, it is pretty affordable. For us, it’s a little on the pricey side. However, we’ve done some serious calculations and we think we can handle it. We’re making an appointment to sign the paperwork on Tuesday (02/28/06)!! We’re buying a HOUSE!!! Now, whether or not we’ll have enough money to pay for furniture after buying this house…we’re still not sure…

On the up side, we went to Crate and Barrel’s early Sunday morning engagement party. For those of you that haven’t heard of C&B, it’s like a William Sonoma (kitchen gadgets) and Pottery Barn (furniture) put together. It was this nifty party that Crate and Barrel threw to help engaged couples register at their fabulous store. Yes, it sounds silly, but we got free stuff! Not to mention, we had a terrific time picking out ridiculously expensive stuff that we’re never going to get in a million years! However, if someone really wants to buy me the $3000+ beautiful teak outdoor patio set, I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to it!
If you want to laugh at our rather outrageous list of stuff, just go to the Crate and Barrel website, and view our registry. If you’re feeling generous and you can’t find a neighborhood C&B, that’s no excuse because you can buy all registry items online!! BWAHAHA! In the end, we walked away with a free set of champagne flutes, free breakfast from Panera, a free Emeril-Wusthof knife, a belly full of chocolate fondue, and a heart full of impossibly high hopes and dreams. ^-^
Welcome One and All!
This is my obligatory (sorry Cathy, I stole your word) and slightly awkward first post. I’m having a little trouble grasping the idea that a blog is like a journal….except everyone can read my thoughts. Especially since I was once an avid diary writer, and going back to read through my old entries is quite a painful experience.
“He stepped on my shoelace! Nobody else’s shoelace, only mine!! Ahh…he’s so dreamy!” Yes, I actually wrote something along those lines about Andy in high school.
Ugh…I was such a nerd. I suppose everything turned out alright in the end. I would like to point out that at least I was a cute and very happy nerd.
Only time will tell whether this blog will be a successful experiment…or an utter embarrassment
